Gelderse Poort - The steep descent of the Elterberg ends in the Rhine valley. Over a short distance, the landscape shows you a great variety. The ferry takes you'below the major rivers\\\'. The Gelderse Poort is also the name of an ambitious nature development project along the Rhine between Emmerich and Arnhem. In the stream valley along the river, a somewhat natural landscape will be created again with space for water storage. In recent decades less polluted water flows through the Rhine and with the expansion of the natural environment, river fish such as salmon, catfish and sturgeon have a better chance of survival. The project mainly focuses on the Rijnstrangen near Zevenaar, the Millingerwaard and the Ooijpolder. The entire area must function as a link between the Veluwe and the German nature reserves.
