Cycling tour along the Meuse

This loop on the Maas takes you by bike along both sides of this beautiful river. You leave from the monastery village of Steyl towards Reuver. Near Reuver you take the ferry across the Maas to the characteristic village of Kessel. The tour mainly leads through rural areas, with beautiful views over the Maas. You see the Maas like never before.

The environment of this route is very varied: forest, river land and villages. In Steyl, attention is mainly drawn to monastic buildings. You will find the Good Shepherd Garden, the Mission House, Villa Elise and the St. Michael's Church, which dominates the view from the Maas with its spires. Don't forget to also visit the Jochumhof, the beautiful botanical garden in the middle of the village of Steyl, with an amazing view over the Maas. The garden is at its best from April to October.

In the vicinity of the villages of Kessel and Baarlo, the emphasis is on the castles, such as the recently rebuilt Kasteel de Keverberg in Kessel and Kasteel d\\\'Erp in Baarlo. So there is plenty to see! In Baarlo you take the ferry back to the starting point in Steyl.

There are plenty of resting points along the way, so that you can enjoy the view of nature and the Maas on a bench or terrace.
