Come birdwatching in Eemland
From March to June, the polders of Eemland are teeming with meadow birds, such as the black-tailed godwit and the lapwing. The swampy polders with flowery grassland are ideal for raising their young. From June to October, the banks of the Eemmeer are interesting. And in the winter, geese and swans settle in the area.
So get on your bike and don't forget your binoculars!
Highlights- Vogelboulevard Eemland on the Noordervenweg: Up close you can see birds courting, breeding and raising their young in the flowery meadows. There is also a lot to see above your head.
- Bird hide Gooimeer: Leave your bike for a while and walk up and down the Meentdijk to the bird hide on the Eemmeer. You will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the wind, meadows and meadow birds. From the hut you can spot cycling birds and geese and ducks on the water.
- Meentdijk/Zomerijk: The round winds are striking. They arose when the Eemdijk broke through. The water churned violently through the dike and punched holes many meters deep.
The cycle route starts at Carpoolplaats Eembrugge along the A1. You can also start from the Tourist Transfer Point Theetuin Eemnes (Meentdijk 131, Eemnes).
Together with Bicycle Route Vogelboulevard Eemland East (337867) a trip of almost 50 km can be made. Except on Sundays, this route can be shortened by taking the ferry at Eembrugge (crossing bicycle junction 25 and 11).
