Wandering through time

In the late Middle Ages, the farms in the village of Aalten were scattered along the arterial roads. Full wheelbarrows with the harvest were pushed along the paths that connected the yards with the roads. The paths were just wide enough for the neighbor to pass with his wheelbarrow. These gängeskes still form a special pattern in the village. They were long forgotten, but nowadays the connecting paths with sounding names such as Armenpad, Klokkenpad and Magispad lead you past the most beautiful places and the history of Aalten.
