Description
Hikers and bird lovers take note, this route is right up your alley. Hike along the Kiersche Wijdepad and experience the Weerribben-Wieden nature reserve at its best. Stroll along the foraging holes, swamp forests and open water. Stop every now and then and enjoy the bird sounds around you. With a bit of luck you will spot the reed bunting or the water rail.
Undisturbed bird watching
The starting point of the route is at the Lozedijk in Wanneperveen. Close to the starting point is a lookout tower by the water. This 'bird watch tower' is specifically intended for spotting birds. Furthermore, along the Kiersche Wijdepad you will also find observation screens that make it easier to watch birds, without the birds being startled and flying away.
Duck decoys
The route takes you further along unpaved roads, grass and hay fields, quaking bog and you walk around the duck decoy. Staatsbosbeheer and Natuurmonumenten regularly organize excursions to these duck decoys, so be sure to book an excursion if you are interested. You can easily combine this with a walk in this area. For the rest, you can mainly enjoy peace and space on this route without disturbing elements such as buildings. A walking tour for the true nature lover who prefers not to walk through cities and on paved paths.
