You will find small-scale landscapes such as Oud-Avereest and IJhorst-De Wijk. Impressive estates including De Havixhorst and Dickninge complete the picture. Here your thoughts wander to times long past and you experience pure peace and space.

The Reest and the Reest Valley
The Reestdal area owes its name to the river 'De Reest'. The Reest winds its way through the region and forms the border between the provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe. Amidst the hay meadows, fields, heathlands and forests, many special plants and animals can be found, such as heath sheep, Scottish Highlanders and storks. Would you like to know more about nature? Then visit the De Wheem Visitor Centre. You can also cycle past the Reest Church from 1852 just outside Balkbrug.
