Power and splendor of Hanseatic cities: Zwolle / Hasselt

Zwolle and Hasselt are two fascinating Hanseatic cities on the IJssel. The glorious history of the medieval Hanseatic League has left its mark on these cities. During this bike tour you will see a number of these tracks. In the Middle Ages, merchants sailed across the seas on small cog ships to trade with other countries. The cities supported each other at a time when the judiciary was hardly developed and piracy and robbery were a regular occurrence. You can still clearly see this history in Zwolle and Hasselt.
