Description

Winterswijk National Landscape offers the perfect setting for a day of enjoying peace and quiet and natural beauty. Here you'll find a mix of ash trees, grasslands, hedgerows, and streams. You'll also see old Saxon farms here and there. After you've stretched your legs, you'll cross through Germany. It's wonderfully peaceful cycling on car-free roads. Just before junction 35, you'll cycle through the Burlo-Vardingholter Venn. Together with the neighboring Dutch Wooldse Veen, this forms a nature reserve that includes forests, wet heathland, and raised bogs. Back in the Netherlands, you'll pass through the Bekendelle nature reserve, among other places. Further on, you'll find the Berenschots Mill, dating from 1652. Finally, you'll cycle through the former textile town of Winterswijk, where you'll also cycle through the renovated Vrijheidspark (Freedom Park). The route ends at Hofparken Wiltershaar Holiday Park.
