Description
A day of cycling through the Achterhoek equals lots of nature, lots of sights and lots of hospitality. From Vragender you first cycle to the former fortified town of Groenlo. In the centre there are a number of beautiful monumental buildings, such as the Oude Calixtuskerk which was built between 1275 and 1520. In Meddo you pass the Johannes de Doperkerk from 1864, in Winterswijk you will pass the Vrijheidspark. Here lies a boulder from the ice age, it is the second largest found in the Netherlands. Restaurant De Gulle Smid is an ideal place for a pit stop. After a meal on the cosy terrace you cycle back into nature. How wonderfully peaceful it is to cycle here in this region! Finally you pass through the picturesque book town of Bredevoort.
