Tour of Zutphen and Gorsselse Heide

From Lettele you can take a nice long bike ride through the Achterhoek. The route takes you many kilometers along car-free roads, so that you can enjoy the natural beauty at your leisure. You will also pass through some nice towns, such as Bathmen, where you can view the fifteenth-century village church. After you have crossed the Twenthekanaal, you cycle into Almen. A little later you arrive in Zutphen. During the Hanseatic period, Zutphen flourished due to the river trade in herring, butter, beer and wood. In the center, striking towers and stately merchant houses still determine the street scene. Further on you drive across the Gorsselse Heide, a nature reserve where mainly conifers grow. At junction 29 you drive past Kasteel Dorth. After getting off, enjoy a delicious meal at Restaurant BRAS-KOER.
