The old Brabant countryside

In the area surrounding the village of Spoordonk you can still see the traditional Brabant countryside. With this walk you will discover the charm and history of this idyllic area.

Valley of the Beerze
The first part of the route immediately leads you into the beautiful stream valley of the meandering Beerze. A babbling brook, meadows, some solitary trees: what a wonderful backdrop to walk through. From the dike you look out over the reed collars and plains where herons, storks and cormorants, among others, reside. Take your binoculars with you, because the birds have flown away at the slightest sound. Waterproof shoes are also recommended.

Long facade farms
Around Spoordonk you will still find the historic cultivated land of small meadows and roads along which rows of oaks and poplars stand in line. In the small hamlets you can still see some characteristic long-fronted farms. At the end of the walk you can already see the St. Bernadette Church of Spoordonk looming from the distance. An image that takes you back to the time of draft horses.
