Description
Where the Dinkel meanders through the Lutterzand, the steep eastern sand bank tells the geological history of this area. Here, several soil layers lie on top of each other.
In the Middle Ages, the heath vegetation in this area largely disappeared due to cultivation and overgrazing. The sand drifts that arose at that time were curbed at the beginning of the 20th century by planting Scots pine.
