Through the Ourthe valley of the Belgian Ardennes

Those who don't shy away from some adventure can indulge themselves on this route. You drive from Liège upstream along the Ourthe to Marche-en-Famenne over unpaved terrain and a few hilltops. Feel free to call it a light version of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Topped with a generous sauce of cultural history.

Bicycle welcome label
If you divide the trip over a few days, you have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful nature, the fresh air and the rich cultural history. You can see numerous tourist attractions and eat in cozy restaurants with typical regional products. There are also hospitable accommodations along the route that have the Bicycle Welcome label.

Enchanting Durbuy
The route takes you through a number of beautiful towns, such as bustling Liège and the old Marche-en-Famenne. And what about Durbuy? According to its inhabitants, this is the smallest town in the world. Take a walk here to discover the atmospheric city center and the historic houses. The narrow streets have not changed since the eighteenth century. Done with your trip? With the slow train from Marloie station you travel through breathtaking landscapes back to the central station of Liège (Liège-Guillemins).

RAVel
Part of the route you drive on tight RAVeL paths. The RAVeL (Réseau Autonome de Voies Lentes) is a Walloon project to create paths especially for slow traffic such as cyclists. Cars are not allowed here. Often a RAVeL runs on the route of a former railway line. You can pedal slowly and enjoy the view over the meadows or over the rippling water of the Ourthe without any worries.
