Tour of Twente high moor from Delden

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant Wapen Van Delden. South of Enschede you will drive through a quiet coulisse landscape with damp stream valleys. On your path you will find beautiful regional farms and other monumental houses. But you will also pass through some special nature reserves. In this region there used to be an extensive raised bog area, of which the Haaksbergerveen is a beautiful remnant. The quiet Buurserzand is unique in Europe due to its size and wet character. You will see a mosaic of heathlands with hundred-year-old junipers, forests, small fields and some orchid meadows. Back in the former fortified town of Delden you will discover plenty of remnants from the past. Delden was already mentioned in 1036 and there was already a church there in 1118. In 1333 the small fortified town was granted city rights.
