Tour of Twente high moor from Delden

Your route begins at Hotel Restaurant Wapen Van Delden. South of Enschede, you'll ride through a tranquil bog landscape with moist stream valleys. Along the way, you'll find beautiful regional farms and other historic houses. This region once boasted a vast raised bog, of which the Haaksbergerveen is a beautiful remnant. The tranquil Buurserzand, with its size and wetlands, is unique in Europe. You'll see a mosaic of heathlands with century-old junipers, forests, small fields, and a few orchid meadows. In the former fortified town of Delden, you'll discover plenty of remnants of the past. Delden was mentioned as early as 1036, and a church stood there as early as 1118.
