Walking near Wassenaar: dunes and estates

Your route starts at Lunch & Dinercafé BROEDERS. From the chic Wassenaar you walk to Royal Estate de Horsten. The castle of the same name was destroyed in the years 1393 and 1420, now you will find a hunting lodge dating from 1838 here. It was built on the orders of Prince Frederik and is located next to the home of Willem-Alexander and Máxima. Further on you will pass Huize de Paauw, a striking white country house whose origins date back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays the town hall of Wassenaar is located here, in the basement you will find the Fire Brigade Museum, which was founded in 1923. On the edge of Wassenaar you will find the Vreeburg estate. On this estate there is a white plastered tower from the 19th century with a house that was built against it in 1986.
