Nice long walk on the Rechteren Estate

Your walking route starts at Restaurant De Witte Gans. From here you walk straight onto the estate of Rechteren Castle, the only medieval castle that has been preserved in Overijssel. It has been inhabited by the same family for six centuries. The forest and nature areas of the Rechteren estate are open to walkers between sunrise and sunset. The estate measures over 1,200 hectares. A beautifully varied area, with agricultural land, forests, lanes, hedgerows, heathlands and low-lying land with water near the Vecht. You can see which farms and houses belong to the estate, by the oxblood red and ochre yellow checked shutters with a green edge. The Rechteren estate is busy making the landscape future-proof. For example, unsightly buildings have been demolished in various places. It is only getting more beautiful here!
