Tour of Palthekasteeltje and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Camperplaats Sploder Stea. Just below Haarle you will pass the white'Palthekasteeltje\\\' with its characteristic square tower, on top of the Sprengenberg. This was the holiday home and hunting lodge for the Palthe family, owners of the textile factory of the same name. The accompanying bathhouse is called the'witch's house\\\' by the inhabitants of Haarle! Then you walk back through the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. The landscape of the National Park was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. The forests were planted to prevent sand drifts and form a beautiful alternation between the dry heathlands. The last viable population of black grouse in the Netherlands lives here. The differences in altitude and the beautiful views in this area make it seem as if you are no longer in the Netherlands!
