Tour of Palthekasteeleltje and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Camperplaats Sploder Stea. Just below Haarle you will pass the white'Palthekasteeltje\\\' with its characteristic square tower, on top of the Sprengenberg. This was the holiday home and hunting lodge for the Palthe family, owners of the textile factory of the same name. The associated bath house is called the'witch house\\\' by the inhabitants of Haarlem! Then you walk back through National Park Sallandse Heuvelrug. The landscape of the National Park was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. The forests have been planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice alternation between the dry heaths. The last viable population of black grouse in the Netherlands lives here. Due to the height differences and the beautiful views in this area, it seems as if you are no longer in the Netherlands!
