Tour of Bredevoort and Bekendelle

Your route starts at Vriezenhuis Estate. Here you cycle through a small-scale, slightly sloping landscape. Nearby you will discover Bekendelle, an old deciduous forest of alder, ash and oak around the Boven-Slinge stream. You briefly cross the German border. When you return to your own country you will pass Border Post 171. This is one of the border posts that were placed in 1766 to put a definitive end to the border conflicts between Munster and Gelre. A little further on you will pass Wijngoed De Hennepe, a nice stop off. De Neeth Farm Museum is also worth a visit. There is a historic barn in the yard containing a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen and bedroom from 1930, supplemented with various old farmhouse utensils. Then you pedal to the book town of Bredevoort, a beautiful fortified town with antique shops and second-hand bookstores.
