Enjoy the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Kromme Rijnstreek

This route combines the beautiful nature of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the vastness of the Kromme Rijnstreek. First you cycle through Boswachterij Austerlitz. Further on you cycle over Groot Heidestein. On this former estate you can still find some of the heathlands that dominated the Utrechtse Heuvelrug over a hundred years ago. Then you descend to the Kromme Rijnstreek, a region of vast grasslands, ditches and orchards. And of beautiful old buildings, such as Kasteel Beverweerd near Werkhoven. You pass the Rijn en Weert mill from 1882. In Cothen you pass Oog in 't Zeil, a corn mill from 1869. The area around Kasteel Rhijnestein enjoys a protected village view. The last part of the route you cover in the forest.
