Cycling route: 3296366
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route combines the beautiful nature of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the vastness of the Kromme Rijn region. First you drive through the Austerlitz Forestry. Further on you cycle across Groot Heidestein. This former estate still contains some of the heathlands that dominated the Utrechtse Heuvelrug more than a hundred years ago. You then descend to the Kromme Rijn region, a region of extensive grasslands, ditches and fruit orchards. And beautiful old buildings, such as Beverweerd Castle near Werkhoven. You pass the Rijn en Weert mill from 1882. In Cothen you pass Oog in 't Zeil, a corn mill from 1869. The surroundings of Rhijnestein Castle enjoy a protected village view. You complete the last part of the route in the forest.
