Enjoy the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Kromme Rijnstreek

This route combines the beautiful nature of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the vastness of the Kromme Rijnstreek. First you drive through Boswachterij Austerlitz. Further on you cycle over Groot Heidestein. On this former estate are still some of the heaths that dominated the Utrechtse Heuvelrug more than a hundred years ago. You then descend to the Kromme Rijnstreek, a region of vast grasslands, ditches and orchards. And beautiful old buildings, such as Kasteel Beverweerd near Werkhoven. You pass the Rijn en Weert windmill from 1882. In Cothen you pass Oog in't Zeil, a corn mill from 1869. The surroundings of Rhijnestein Castle enjoy a protected village view. You will cover the last part of the route in the forest. After getting off, you can enjoy a delicious meal at Pannenkoekenhuis Bergzicht.
