Description

In the border area below Maastricht it is wonderful to walk. You can enjoy beautiful nature and old buildings. You will pass the Meschermolen, a water mill from 1699 on the river De Voer. Just after junction 7 you cross the border and enter Moelingen, the westernmost village of the Voer region. You will see many characteristic monumental buildings here. The tower of the medieval village church dates from the twelfth century and is built in Romanesque style. The nave was built a few centuries later in Maasland Gothic style. On the edge of the village you walk through the valley of the Berwijn. Oaks and hornbeams grow on the calcareous slopes. A climb brings you back to Mesch.
