Description
Ready for a real cycling challenge? Then this route is made for you. You cycle just over 30 kilometers through the Ardennes. A tough trip, although the beautiful forest and the cozy villages make walking very pleasant.
Viroin-Hermeton Natural Park
Most of the route you cycle through the pristine Viroin-Hermeton nature reserve. You cycle through a mosaic of deciduous and coniferous forests, grasslands and moist meadows. Also characteristic are the hundreds of gorges in this nature reserve, some of which are almost 100 meters long. The soil is very calcareous in some places, allowing thousands of wild orchids to bloom in May and June.
Bike break
There are some beautiful villages on your route where you can make a pit stop. The start and end point are in Vierves-sur-Viroin, one of the 24 most beautiful villages in Wallonia. You will be surprised again and again by the beautiful traditional houses, such as the old presbytery and a village house from the seventeenth century. The densely built-up alleys in the village, which follow the relief of the landscape, exude an almost Mediterranean atmosphere.
