Description
You can start the Zuidplaspolder route from the TOP Rottemeren. The Zuidplaspolder was the last polder, located between Rotterdam-Nesselande, Zevenhuizen, Moerkapelle, Waddinxveen, Gouda, Moordrecht and Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, which was emptied with windmills.
Large peat lakes lay between the Rotte and the Hollandse IJssel that threatened the villages of Waddinxveen, Moerkapelle, Moordrecht and Nieuwerkerk. The absolute lowest point in the Netherlands is in the Zuidplaspolder (-6.76 m NAP).
Mill four corridor Zevenhuizen.
The unique molenviergang in the Tweemanspolder, north of Zevenhuizen,
is the only working windmill in the world. Since 1727, these windmills have kept the polder dry. The mills can be admired from the mill path along the mills. There are no visiting opportunities. The mills run twice a month, on Saturdays.
Height Profile
Tourist Interchange Points (TOP 's) are the perfect places to start a bike ride or a walk. In these places you can park your car for free on the edge of beautiful areas. From here you can enjoy cycling and walking via the nodes. The TOP 's are easy to find by following the signs along the roads. You can recognize the TOP by a green steel culm of 5.5 meters high.
