A tour through the Ronde Venen

Large peat lakes, elongated meadows, meandering rivers and ditches that reach to the horizon: that is the Ronde Venen in a nutshell. A great area to completely clear your head during a long bike ride. Just outside the Ronde Venen you cycle a few kilometers along the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. This typical Dutch marsh landscape is one of the few extensive lowland peat areas in our country. The route also takes you through centuries-old characteristic villages and hamlets that arose around a lock or intersection of waterways. For example, Woerdense Verlaat was built at the lock in the Grecht that was built in 1448. You pass two forts from the Defence Line of Amsterdam: Fort Uithoorn and Fort Waver-Amstel. The route ends in Kockengen at Abrona Kunst & Koffie.
