Your route starts at Restaurant De Stadsboerderij Rijssen. Discover Rijssen's heritage! Rijssen was once a Hanseatic city. Rijssen was already given city rights in 1243. City walls and a city moat were constructed: it was a truly fortified town. Along the way you will pass the Ter Horst mill in Rijssen, an octagonal top mill from 1752. Until 1913, this beautiful tower mill operated on wind power. The grist and peel mill then fell into disrepair, the ruins were only renovated in 1973. Volunteer millers beat oil and peel barley at the mill, which is beautifully situated along the Regge. The Oosterhof is a manor that acquired its current appearance mainly in the 18th century. But the history goes back even further: the Oosterhof is already mentioned in a deed of sale from 1334.
