Round Meinweg, Rothenbach and Roerdal

Your route starts at Camping De Meinweg - Huttopia. You can cycle straight into the Meinweg National Park. The area is known for its unique terraced landscape. These terraces were created over tens of thousands of years by the erosion of the Meuse and three fault lines in the earth's crust. You cycle along dense old forests and stream valleys. Almost unnoticed you cross the German border, a little later you drive back into the Netherlands. Along the southern side of the park, the Rothenbach or Red Brook forms the border between Germany and the Netherlands. At the Rothenbach you can view the Gitstappermolen from 1377. The water mill is fed by the water of the Rothenbach, which flows into the Rur further on. This tributary of the Meuse meanders beautifully through the landscape here.
