Tour of Groote Vloedgraven and Boxbergen

Your route starts at Het Wapen Van Wesepe. You first make a nice round around the Groote Vloedgraven. A few years ago, a lot of work was done here to improve the water storage to prevent possible flooding. The natural values have also been increased, by the construction of fish passages and vegetation. Nice to take a look! On your route you will also come across the manor house and estate Boxbergen. Forestry, cattle breeding and recreation still take place in the relief-rich cover sand area. The history of the house goes back to at least 1344, when it first appeared in the archives. Between 1650 and 1653, the house was rebuilt after a fire. It then had seven facades with hundreds of windows: one of the largest houses in the region!
