Tour of the Linge from Leerdam to Mariënwaerdt

Your route starts at BY't VEER. A ferry takes you across the Waal. Further on you come through the Lingebos recreation area. Through the vast polders you cycle to the picturesque heart of Leerdam. Here you can cycle along the Linge. From the dike you look out over the flowery grasslands and orchards along the river. The area is known for its fairytale orchards and picturesque dike villages. In Acquoy time seems to have stood still a little. Here you see a fifteenth-century church tower that is slightly out of plumb. In Rhenoy you come past the strikingly white plastered village church, some parts of which date from the fifteenth century. After the picturesque Beesd you are presented with the Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt with its many monumental buildings.
