Round Millingerwaard from Kekerdom

Your route starts at De Hazelaarshof. This route takes you through the beautiful river landscape near Millingen aan de Rijn. You walk along the banks of one of Europe's longest rivers, the Rhine. An ideal route to get a breath of fresh air. From the dike you have wide views over the wet fields and the river. The peace in the floodplains is wonderful. You pass through the Millingerwaard, a swampy area where nature is allowed to take its course as much as possible. Among other things, beavers and Galloway cattle have been released. On the edge of Kekerdom is the Sint-Laurentiuskerk from the fourteenth century, a picture. You regularly see authentic terp farms in the polder that remind you of the time when the dikes offered less security against the rising river water.
