Walking route Grou

Grou is a picturesque village. Ideal for exploring on a walking trail. First, you walk around the mound; this is the oldest part of Grou and is a protected townscape. Walking along the quay, you'll see boats bobbing on the Pikmeer lake on your left, and a row of beautiful, characteristic houses on your right. Further on, you'll pass St. Peter's Church, a Romanesque building from the 13th century. Walking through Wijde Steeg feels like traveling back in time; what a lovely atmosphere! Next, you'll walk through the Oosterveld neighborhood, also a protected townscape. Along the Prinses Margrietkanaal (Princess Margriet Canal), you'll reach Stationsstraat. Here, on your right, you'll see the former town hall of Idaarderadeel, built in 1942. The route ends with a drink on the terrace at Hotel-Restaurant Oostergoo.
