Tour of the forest ranges and Hunebed center

You start the route at Hotel Restaurant Het Wapen van Exloo. There are some beautiful forest areas in the Heart of Drenthe. In Boswachterij Grolloo and Boswachterij Schoonloo, heathlands and forests alternate. The deeper you drive into the woods, the quieter it becomes. On your route you will find a lookout tower to view the area from above: at junction 58. On the way back you will pass several nice places to get off and learn more about this special area, such as the Het Boomkroonpad Visitor Center / Houtvester Kuhnhuis. Between Grolloo and Borger you will pass a number of dolmens that give you a glimpse into a past that goes back 5,000 years. A little later you drive past the Hunebed Center at Borger.
