Tour of the Mensinge estate from Roden

Your route starts at Hotel Eetcafé Zalencentrum Onder de Linden. The village of Roden and the church were first mentioned in 1139. Originally this is an old Drenthe green village. On the Brink is the statue of'Ot en Sien\\\' in honor of children's author H. Scheepstra (1859-1913) and illustrator C. Jetses (1873-1954). Next to the church is the manor Mensinge. The current house was built in 1646. The house was inhabited until 1985 and then the manor house was transformed into a museum. The interior has changed little since the house is no longer inhabited. The associated estate is part of the Mensingebos. The oak avenues with which the forest sections are lined are striking. At the edge of the forest is the'Kapteyn\\\' observatory of the University of Groningen.
