Description
Conference hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten is located in a wooded area, which makes it the perfect base for a walk.
This route starts at a unique location: You walk on the old runway of Soesterberg Air Base. This was the first military airport in the Netherlands. It was built in 1913 and since then the army has made flights from here to different corners. Due to budget cuts, the airfield was closed by the Ministry of Defense in 2008, so that people can now cycle or walk in this unique place.
Across the runway you dive into the woods of Landgoed de Paltz. This is a beautiful old estate that was designed in 1876 by the landscape architects Copijn and Springer. The site consists of beech avenues, sight axes, water features, a stately villa, a coach house and a shepherd's house.
Then you make your way back to Conference Hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten, where you can look back on this beautiful walk in our restaurant Konnekt while enjoying a cup of coffee, tea or something fresh.
