E-bike route along the coast of the Kop

Your route starts at Camperplaats Jachtwerf Willemsoord. In the heart of Schagen you will see the Christoforus Church from 1883. The towers of Schagen Castle date from the Middle Ages. Then you drive past the Pettemerduinen and the Zwanenwater, a wonderfully quiet nature reserve. You drive back past the Groote Kaap lighthouse. The steel tower is almost seventeen meters high and is still used to signal traffic on the water. A little later you will see Lange Jaap in the distance, with its almost 64 meters it is the highest cast iron lighthouse in Europe. After a tour through the Donkere Duinen you cycle back. The Donkere Duinen nature reserve was formed from the remains of an old Wadden Island that grew onto the mainland in the sixteenth century through drifting sand.
