ECKTIV Suggestion: Cycling route Vechtplassen from Vreeland

> Start and end point is junction 20 past the white bridge over the Vecht in Vreeland as seen from Hotel de Nederlanden. Parking is available in the streets surrounding the hotel. This watery route takes you straight through the extensive lake area on the east side of the Vecht. You cycle over (sometimes narrow) dikes around famous names such as the Loosdrechtse plassen, Ankeveense plassen and the crystal-clear Spiegelplas (a very clear lake, popular with divers). Human hands created this landscape during the time of peat cutting. In between are the forts of the Old Dutch Waterline and the beautiful (country) houses and their gardens. There are plenty of catering establishments along the way, in the old peat villages and often on the water. There is so much to see with plenty of places to park your bike and look around and even take a dip in the water when the weather is nice. Please take your time for this route. The Vecht itself takes you back to Vreeland near hotel de Nederlanden where you can start the tour. You will find catering establishments in Loosdrecht, Kortenhoef and Nederhorst den Berg. Often on the water or in the village center. You can also get something to eat and drink at the visitor center of Natuurmonumenten in's Gravenland.
