ECKTIV Suggestion: Forest & Heath Cycle Tour around Hilversum

> The start and end point of this route is junction 74 where you can park at sports club's Gravenland. You can also depart by bike from Vreeland, from junction 20 over the white bridge near Hotel de Nederlanden. You then have an approach route of approximately 8 km (one way). With this route you drive around Hilversum in a wide arc. Not because you should avoid the media city with its compact center and many terraces, but because the ancient forests and heaths are so attractive. The route goes clockwise. Via the extensive park-like country estates around's Gravenland you reach the varied Spanderwoud and the former forest bath Crailoo that has been given back to nature. You have already seen many different landscapes before you cross the vast Westerheide and Zuiderheide. Here you will find historic burial mounds and a sand drift. And at least as attractive, one of our favorite break places: Teahuis't Bluk in the middle of the heath. Incidentally, there is a good chance that you will encounter the sheep or Scottish highlanders here. Via the forests of Lage Vuursche, with plenty of catering establishments in this intimate forest village, you arrive at the sloping Hoorneboegse heath. It is special that you drive almost continuously in the green around the city. For those who want to know more about the history of the area, we recommend the Geological Museum Hofland near junction 51. There are plenty of restaurants along the way, but be sure to stop at Theehuis't Bluk, beautifully situated on the Zuiderheide (junction 53). In the Lage Vuursche you will find several (pancake) restaurants. Hilversum Airport offers catering and entertainment with the aircraft. You can also choose to drive into the center of Hilversum from junction 31 and cut off from there towards junction 74 (start and end point). Hilversum is a pleasant shopping and terrace city with the terraces on Weversplein and Mout on Marktplein as our favourites.
