Tour of Bolsward, Allingawier and Makkum

Then you cycle to Bolsward, where you can taste the atmosphere in the old city center with its canals. The Stadsgracht guides you through the center. A little further on you will pass the Frisian Museum Village in Allingawier. This characteristic mound village was once labeled one of the ten most beautiful places in the Netherlands. Museum farm De Izeren Ko forms the heart of the museum village. The barn was built around 1700! You drive back through the Gate to the Zuiderzee, as Makkum was called in the Middle Ages. The coat of arms of Makkum, on which a golden mermaid holds a sailing ship and a lime kiln, are reminders of the shell lime distilleries that flourished here.
