Tour of Paardekop and German War Cemetery

Nearby you will discover the German War Cemetery. It is the only German military cemetery in the whole of the Netherlands. Next to the cemetery is a Liberation Route Europe listening spot, where the story of the cemetery is told. A guided tour is also very worthwhile. The other side of the battle – the German – becomes very tangible here. From here you walk along the highest point of De Peel: De Paardekop. The area is varied and diverse, with higher and lower, dry and damp heathland, forests, fens and water. The name 'De Paardekop' comes from a legend about a battle that took place in the area between riders. Many skulls of horses are said to have been found there.
