Description
For many, Drenthe is synonymous with heathland, forests, flocks of sheep and peat. You will encounter all these ingredients on this beautiful cycling route through central Drenthe!
Bruntinge
On the route you not only pass through the natural landscape of Drenthe, you also drive through a number of typical Drenthe ash or green villages with old Saxon farms. Such as Bruntinge, a village that was the last in the Netherlands to be connected to the electricity grid in April 1965.
Beilen
In the larger Beilen, the es still forms the center of the village. You can admire, among other things, the fifteenth-century Stefanus Church. Just outside the village you will pass the Molen van Makkum, a beautiful flour mill from 1906. There is also an ancient Stefanus Church in Westerbork.
