The West Friesland region is a relatively unknown cycling gem. Within a short distance, you can enjoy expansive landscapes and a rich cultural history. Take, for example, the start in Medemblik, the oldest town in West Friesland. After a few kilometers, you can stop at THE BEE for coffee and homemade pastries, after which you cycle to the picturesque town of Twisk. Here you'll see many monumental farmhouses. Via Wognum, you cycle to Hauwert, where you can catch a glimpse of the fifteenth-century St. Nicholas Church. Just past Onderdijk, you cycle past the Vooroever nature reserve. The vegetation is reminiscent of a mangrove forest. Cormorants and spoonbills live here alongside all kinds of geese and ducks. On the outskirts of Medemblik, you'll pass the thirteenth-century Radboud Castle. At the charming Bakery Museum, it's time for coffee and a treat.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
