While other cities in the area grew, Medemblik remained stagnant for a long time. It is precisely because of this that the town still exudes an authentic Dutch atmosphere. There is no shortage of characteristic Dutch facades during this walk, because Medemblik is rich in buildings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The craft life also lives on here, experience it for yourself in the cozy and tasty Bakery Museum. During your walk you can also stare for miles into the distance as you walk along the shore of the IJsselmeer. Medemblik was a prosperous trading center until the eighteenth century. Thanks to this wealth, the town has more than 80 national monuments. The oldest building is the St. Boniface Church from 1404, the tower of which you can see from the polder.
