Tour of Papenberg lookout tower

This route takes you to the seven-metre Papenberg lookout tower, at the highest point of Castricum. It is the crowning glory of the development of the area, which has become more attractive to visitors and at the same time offers special dune nature more space. Between Bergen, Egmond aan Zee and Alkmaar you will find a beautiful dune area that is waiting to be discovered. In Egmond Binnen you will pass the park where the Abbey of Egmond is located. This Saint Adelbert Abbey, founded in the tenth century, is the oldest in the Netherlands. In the artist village of Bergen you will see many beautiful stately buildings. The bulb fields between Alkmaar and Egmond are a feast for the eyes.
