Tour Sallandse Heuvelrug and Hellendoornse Berg

Your route starts at Recreatiebedrijf De Huttert. From here you first drive to charming Raalte. Then it goes up! The landscape of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. The nature of Salland now consists of forests and heathland. The forests have been planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice alternation between the dry heaths. The last viable population of black grouse in the Netherlands lives here. You take a look at the sheepfold, back in the nice Raalte, and then continue cycling. The 40 meter high Hellendoornse Berg is a heavily wooded hill. The Hellendoornse Berg is located in the larger nature reserve of the Sallandse Heuvelrug, but does not officially belong to this national park.
