Tour of Amsterdam and Zaandam

Your route starts at EuroParcs Spaarnwoude, beautifully situated on the waterfront in the Geuzenbos. From here you can cycle straight into Amsterdam. You cycle along the cozy Haarlemmerdijk with all its shops and delicatessens and then take the ferry across the IJ. Here you have a beautiful view of the city skyline and the EYE Film Museum. You cycle out of the city through trendy Amsterdam-Noord, to Zaandam. You suddenly find yourself in the middle of the polder! On the edge of the Twiske recreational area you pass the Luijendijk. The area was created in 1589 as a 'lazy dike': ships were put over the dike at the lock until the 19th century. Nowadays the lock is fully automated. A little further on you will discover the Schermersluis - Overtoom.
