Tour of Holtmühle in the Maasduinen

Your route starts at EuroParcs Maasduinen. Here you walk straight into the Maasduinen, an area that emerged at the end of the last ice age. Sand, deposited by the Rhine and Meuse, was blown up into drifting dunes by the west wind during dry periods. De Maasduinen National Park is now a terraced landscape on an elongated, high sand ridge between the Maas and the German border. It consists of lower and higher sandy soils, the Maas valley and a plateau. You cross to the border and follow it for a while. Near your starting point you can take a nice loop through nature.
