Here you walk straight into the Maasduinen, an area that was created at the end of the last ice age. Sand, deposited by the Rhine and Maas, was blown up into drifting dunes by the westerly wind during dry periods. The Maasduinen National Park is now a terraced landscape on an elongated, high sand ridge between the Maas and the German border. It consists of lower and higher sandy soils, the Maas valley and a plateau. You cross to the border and follow it for a while. Near your starting point you make a nice loop through nature.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
