Round Rockanje

First you walk through Voornes Duin, a nature reserve where you experience a lot of variety between forests, humid valleys, dry dune grasslands and sea buckthorn thickets. It can be nice and quiet here, except for the rustling of the wind and the chirping of birds. A wonderful place to leave the everyday routine behind and relax completely. After a stopover at De IJsboerin for a real farmer's ice cream, you walk via the footpath into Meertje de Waal: a nature reserve of grasslands and reeds. This area was created around the Strype, an ancient creek. Further on you walk along the Rockanje, a monumental flour mill from 1718. A little later you walk into Rockanje. In this nice village you pass the beautiful sixteenth-century Dutch Reformed Church.
