A tour of Haaksbergen and Ammeloer Venn

Your route starts at Camping de Blanken. From here you drive first to Landgoed Lankheet. The history of this 500 acre estate dates back to 1188! Here you can still see an old hoof landscape with ash trees, hedgerows and coppice woods. Characteristic are the vast forests with scattered heaths. You will discover the Haaksbergerveen, one of the most beautiful high moor areas in the Netherlands. It is a mix of marshy high moors, wide heaths, bushes and grasslands. Just across the border in Germany you drive along the Ammeloer Venn, a nature reserve where many birds live. You will see many authentic Saxon farms here, such as in the village of Rekken. You drive back through a picturesque area centered on the Mallumsche Molen, a monumental corn and hulling mill from 1748 on the river Berkel.
