Tour Zwaluwenburg, Schouwenburg and Elburg

You will soon cycle across Zwaluwenburg, an estate with a small castle. You will also find the gardens of A. Vogel, which can be visited. The Schouwenburg estate, a little further away, has been inhabited by various noble families over the centuries. Every few decades the house and outbuildings were added, rebuilt or renovated. The house is now privately owned. Elburg is a town that was originally located directly on the Zuiderzee, but because it regularly flooded, it was moved. During the rebuilding of Elburg it was turned into a real fortress; the intact canals and the Vischpoort are still a reminder of this. So definitely get off! You cycle back via Oldebroek.
