Tour of Hezingen, Tubbergen and Fleringen

Your route starts at Restaurant Watermolen Bels. You first cycle towards Ootmarsum. This landscape along the German border in the triangle Vasse, Ootmarsum and Uelsen was formed by a moraine from the ice age, which gives the landscape a hilly character. Watermills were built in the stream valleys. In this corner of Twente, you can still find several old watermills. After just a few kilometres, you pass the nature reserve 'het Springendal' where various sources feed these streams. This beautiful area is nicknamed 'The garden of the Netherlands'. The route goes through the very pleasant village of Tubbergen. The village was traditionally very Catholic, which you would not expect in this region. The Sint-Pancratiusbasilica, a neo-Gothic church, still occupies an important place.
