Tour of the Walking Forest, Oude Warande and Heidepark

Your route starts at Villa Vredelust. From here you can walk straight into the Oude Warande, built in 1712, one of the few well-preserved star forests in the Netherlands. From the heart of the park you can see the star-shaped paths running away from you. Nearby you will discover the Wandelbos, a beautiful city park from 1920 that was designed by Leonard Springer. Back you walk a bit along the Bels Lijntje, a cycle path over the former railway line between Tilburg and Turnhout. The cycle path is alternately bordered by forest and farmlands. Villa Vredelust was built in 1884, but strangely enough it is located on the Heidepark Estate and not on Vredelust. Heidepark is laid out in the English landscape style, with a pond and winding paths. Also note the beautiful free-standing oak trees!
